event #3
[ It's taken the city officials a couple of weeks to clean up since the witch's mess. Most of the wreckage and bodies have been disposed of as humanely as possible but unfortunately, that doesn't really amount to much. The scent of flesh has attracted a whole host of carrion eaters—and, worse, their predators. Mutated buzzards swoop down from the sky and are stalked by larger, more formidable twisted canines and the odd bear. Arks are also present, sniffing from the sidelines and turning up at night when the defenses are down. Monsters are swarming around the barriers, picking at the garbage and digging up the graves and anyone foolish enough to step outside to chase them off is likely a meal themselves.
To deal with the outbreak they are, of course, calling upon their imported mercenaries for assistance.
First thing in the morning, everyone's communicators will be receiving an incoming voice message. Some of you might recognize the sneering female voice from a previous broadcast. Regardless, she starts the call the same way—by clearing her throat sharply, to make sure she has your attention. ]
All outsiders are to be posted at the gates to prevent the local wildlife from breaching the borders. Orsans, report to the city hall for a temporary pass into and out of the barrier. This pass will only let you back in once, so don't waste it. There is some additional ammunition available in both towns at their respective posts; speak to an official if you need some. [ A pause. ] But don't hoard it.
This is a mandatory call to arms. Participants will be compensated with supplies. Deserters... will starve. Take your pick.
[ The message ends on that riveting note.
As the outsiders gather at the posts, they'll notice a sparse amount of guards in both towns. The monsters have thinned out closest to town but, as the scouts will point out, they're thick as thieves out on the perimeter and it's only a matter of time before they rush in and overtake everything. Weapons are pushed into the hands of those that don't have any, women and children included, and they're hustled outside to do the dirty work. ]

[ The activity in Orsun hadn't escaped notice. There were more monsters crawling around the perimeter but Madoka hadn't thought that much of it - that was to be expected, after all.
This wasn't. ]

[ It's not a really long response. Shizuo gets the memo and then gets ushered out of the portal. They lead him to the town barrier, shove a gun in his hand and tell him to fight.
It goes about as well as one can imagine. Shizuo uses the gun as a club and bludgeons his way through the crowd of monsters.
He's all over the place, running whatever crosses him the wrong way. ]

[ he's awfully nonchalant about the situation either way. he leaves his minor complaint hanging and heads off to investigate the situation out front, holding his hands up when they offer him a weapon because he's already got a shabby rapier and that suits him just fine.
once they've shuffled him outside the border he just picks a decent vantage point and watches, getting a feel for the situation. it sounds pretty dangerous. he's not much of a fighter without his KMF, unfortunately, but with his height and position he's more than prepared to step in if anyone looks like they could use another set of hands. ]

what the hell is even going on? it takes shiki a few moments to even process what's around her when she hears a familiar voice from somewhere behind her. ]

[ oh dear god what blessing is this. she can freak out about looking like eri and all these other frankly frightening details later. first? she has to get to her partner, arms grasping mr. mew tightly to her chest as she crosses the distance between them. ]

He's coming up on the side of Konatsu, scanning the area. While he doesn't know for sure this guy is an outsider, there's only one reason for someone to be out here at the moment. ]

so he's basically making his way up onto the roof of a building and dropping down on unsuspecting wolf monsters sword first like it's the City of the Ancients up in this bitch, which is proving to be a halfway decent tactic in the art of not getting his ass killed this time around.
baby steps. ]

Dirk's a little panicked. By "a little" he means he's trying to keep tabs on everyone and herd them together. These monsters aren't kidding around - they're eager to rip him apart and some of them have already left their mark, but who gives a shit. He's fine and he keeps running. ]

all she knows is she wants to sit down, maybe just close her eyes for a minute. her clothes are too sticky and her vision too blurry to tell whose blood is where, she just wants a moment of rest. ]

She's just a little girl on the battlefield. There's nothing that could protect her from the elements and it's a miracle that by the time the battle ends she's alive at all.
But she's hurt.
The bandages aren't used on herself. No, they were given to the locals along with anything to solve the pain. She's okay, she's okay, she stumbles and trips and skins her knees on the sand but gets back up on twisted ankles and keeps walking.
Not everyone is accounted for. ]

all he really needs to do is turn his head and stare into the distance and as long as there isn't something obstructing his view he can make out the figure of anybody he wants to. it's very handy when he isn't being distracted by monster slaying.
still, it takes him a moment to recognize Kanaya as Kanaya, given that she's kind of an abnormal wreck. he heads over tired and messy but more concerned than anything and growing moreso the closer he gets. ]

Cloud's not unaccustomed to battle... it's been a while since a sword was almost too heavy to wield, but he knows all the moves.
unfortunately, that flash of silver out of the corner of his eye is enough to take his attention off of what he's fighting. ] Sephiroth?!

Unfortunately, as much as he'd love to demand answers before he does anything for anyone, it really didn't look like the monsters outside are about to sit and wait for him to figure things out. Hell, it didn't look like the guys passing out the weapons and shoving him outside were about to either. So for the time being, Yuri will stick to fighting off whatever he can, figuring he'll get some answers after things calm down - although someone passing by might catch the occasional complaint from him about what garbage the sword he's using is.]
